Meet Michele: a Creative Legal Professional & Passionate Educator

Hailing from Northeast Ohio, Michele is a creative legal professional and passionate educator who prides herself on being able to pivot quickly and anticipate future trends in internet privacy-related matters to put her clients at ease.

Outside of the firm, Michele can be found cycling, gardening, and exploring Cleveland’s “off the beaten path” buildings, structures, and other manmade sites.

Get to Know Michele

What Do You Do at Minc Law?

I help people get damaging content off the internet. Many times, jurisprudence and the law are several decades behind where we are as a society. Here at Minc Law, we’re able to take very cutting-edge topics/tools such as deep fakes and AI and make the existing laws work for us in a way that we can solve problems for all of our clients.

At the firm, we do as much public relations work as we do legal work as this is a common intersection for many matters involving the internet and clients’ reputations.

For example, say a client has a valid legal claim but their business and/or brand needs to consider how they present this to the public or what the legal ramifications may be of advancing the claim – we help them navigate this delicate area and explore the most appropriate recourse to achieve their goals.

How Do You Start Your Day?

Every morning, the first thing that I do is five minutes of meditation before I even get out of bed. And think about that day and the impact I want to make on that day. This is quiet reflection time that allows me to prioritize and develop a plan for the day and anything that may need immediate attention when I get into the office. It allows me to “start the way I want to go.”

What is Your Personal Motto?

My motto I take from the social worker Brené Brown is, “I choose to be brave with my life and I choose courage over comfort.”

Because a lot of the work we do deals with highly emotional and uncomfortable situations, it requires an advocate who isn’t afraid to get out there, speak up for victims, and help them reclaim their lives from the damaging things posted on the internet.

What’s Something Most People Don’t Know About You?

I like to do a lot of urban exploring. In the Cleveland and Northeast Ohio area, there are a lot of hidden art pieces most people don’t know about. My family and I find time to explore and uncover some of those.

We look to sites like Atlas Obscura to find hidden pieces of art, old abandoned bridges, and sanatoriums, or sites with historic artifacts. For example, we recently explored an old railway that went out to Sandusky Ohio.

What Motivates You?

People often ask me “How do you motivate yourself at work?” particularly because some of the subject matter can be highly emotional. One motivating factor is talking to the clients themselves and hearing their stories because it reminds me that we’re not here just performing a service but we’re helping somebody get their life back.

I always strive to take a client-centered approach that listens to their particular story and factual needs and tailor a plan that helps them achieve their goals of representation.

What Impact Do You Want to Make?

The impact that I’d like to make here at Minc Law is helping people who have had the internet tell their story for them and let them through our help tell their own story and live their own truth.
